Notes
John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
Proverbs 4:23 NLT
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Your heart is the center of your life, the center of your entire mental and emotional activity, the center of your feelings and desires.
The onus, responsibility, and liability is on you to guard your heart.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
Peace of mind involves keeping your mind on the right things
The word “stress” is not in the Bible but the words trouble, cares, and anxieties are.
Stress is the pressure and weight that you carry solicited by dates and deadlines to produce and deliver.
“What are you going to do?” is the primary question of stress.
Stress is the body’s response to any demand or challenge. It can be physical or emotional and may trigger a “fight or flight” reaction, releasing hormones like cortisol. While some stress is normal, chronic stress can have negative health effects.
Stress can lead to many negative consequences, such as:
Back pain
High blood pressure
Exhaustion
Hives
Headaches
Joint and muscle pain
Moodiness
Stomach ulcer
Trouble sleeping
Weight gain
Is it possible to live a stress-free life in a stressful world?
Good news:
Several studies have found that people who visit a house of worship just once a week can extend their life expectancy by nearly a decade.
Do you know why?
Praise screams out the stress that has been repressed on the inside of you
1 Peter 5:7
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Religion does not believe in a God who cares
The God of the Bible is a God who cares for you
1 Peter 5:7 AMPC
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
God will not take your stress away from you. You have to give them to Him.
Cast - to throw away from you with force.
How do I cast?
With 2 hands:
One hand with prayer - God I need help cause I can't do this on my own.
One hand with faith - God cares for me
Psalms 55:22 AMPC
Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail). [I Pet. 5:7.]
When a child of God is full of care, doesn’t the world have reason to believe that their Father in heaven doesn’t care for them?
Psalms 55:22 MSG
Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin.
Philippians 4:6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Say:
“God in me is my everything and I don’t have to stress about anything”
