Phony Faith

Faith without works is dead. Belief in God and corresponding action should go hand in hand. Faith that doesn’t involve action is phony. In this message, Pastor DaVon Alexander shows you how to pursue your calling, step out of your comfort zone, trust God, and take bold steps.

Notes

The just shall live by faith

  • Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38

  • We receive righteousness through faith and the power to live by faith.

  • The just are those that have been declared righteous and are in a condition acceptable to God

  • Faith is a way of living!

  • Faith is not optional or a suggestion

  • Faith is required and mandatory

Faith is…

  • Belief, trust, confidence, rest,

  • Faith works by love, Faith comes by hearing, Faith pleases God

  • Faith walks, Faith talks, Faith overcomes the world, Faith is the foundation of hope

  • The just shall live by Faith

  • We are saved by Faith, We are healed by Faith, We access grace by Faith

  • Faith begins where the will of God is known

  • Faith doesn’t doubt God, Faith doesn’t fear the devil

  • Faith doesn’t draw back from a fight

  • Faith doesn’t waver at the promise

  • Faith ends only with the desired result

James 2:17

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

  • TPT - So then faith that doesn’t involve action is phony.

  • Faith is an act

  • Faith requires corresponding action

  • Does talking about faith indicate that you truly have faith?

James 1:22

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

  • NLT - But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

  • MSG - Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear!

2 Corinthians 5:7

We walk by faith, not by sight

  • The opposite of faith is sight.

  • To be in faith, you have to take steps of faith because faith requires corresponding action

  • If you wait to see something before you believe it, than that’s not faith at all. That’s leaning to the evidence of your senses.

  • Two things you have to work on: The believing part and the action part

  • Faith is acting on God’s Word

  • If you believe, you will act

  • Faith is acting on the Word that you heard

  • If you’re going to wait until you get something before you’ll believe you have it, you’re too late and it won’t work

Matthew 14:22-33

  • God performed the impossible in Peter’s life because he acted on what He heard from God
