Notes

John 10:10

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

  • Satan is a terrorist

  • Satan is trying to steal from you what Jesus has already given you

Robber – a person who takes or attempts to take anything of value by force

Thief - a person who steals secretly, by trickery or deceit

Steal – to take without permission; covert; sly

  • Jesus uses the word "thief" to let you know that the devil is very cunning in the way he steals from you.

  • The devil is a kleptomaniac, (persistent impulse to steal)

Kill - sacrifice; surrender; or give up something precious

  • If he's unsuccessful at stealing it, he will try to convince you to give it up

  • If the devil hasn't stolen everything we hold precious and dear, he will try to convince you that you need to sacrifice it, give up, or quit

  • The devil injects thoughts in your mind to see if he can get you to surrender your peace and joy

Destroy - to render ineffective, to put an end too, to defeat completely, ruin, to eradicate, dismantle, abort

  • He wants to destroy your joy, peace, health, finances, marriage, children.

  • The devil wants you to be defeated.

  • The devil wants you to struggle through your entire life.

  • The devil wants you to be sick, depressed, down in the dumps, glum, and miserable.

  • The devil wants you to feel like you will never hit the target with your life.

  • But Jesus wants to give you a life that is unrivaled, unequaled, matchless, incomparable, richly loaded, and overflowing with life to the ultimate maximum!

May Have Life - to have and to continually possess

Life/Zoe - life that is filled with vitality

Abundantly - above, beyond what's regular, extraordinary, and excessive, surplus

Abundance is not having more than you want, but having more than you need.

The devil comes to steal, kill and to destroy but Jesus comes to give us life as we have never known it
