Notes
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Romans 1:17
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Four reasons we struggle to walk by faith:
God’s will is unknown to us (faith begins where the will of God is known)
We have been lied too
We want to see something first
We don’t see how
John 20:24-29
Unbelief is a choice and decision
Thomas refused to believe
A doubting Thomas is a skeptic who refuses to believe without direct personal experience
Unbelief is anchored in what is visible or reasonable
Unbelief honors the natural realm as superior to the invisible realm.
Unbelief is faith in the natural realm
The natural realm is the anchor of unbelief
Unbelief believes more in what’s visible than in what is invisible
Unbelief is faith in something other than God
Unbelief takes no risk and always gets what it expects.
The problem is not the absence of faith; it’s the presence of unbelief.
3 forms of unbelief
Ignorance – lacks knowledge
Disbelief – wrong teaching; difficult to overcome because of tradition
Human Unbelief – based on the 5 physical senses
Hebrews 3:12 TPT
So search your hearts every day, my brothers and sisters, and make sure that none of you has evil or unbelief hiding within you. For it will lead you astray, and make you unresponsive to the living God.
