This Is Your Time To Shine

In this message, Pastor DaVon explains how Jesus showed undisturbed composure, even in difficult times. You can remain calm, like Jesus, no matter what’s happening around you. You’re called to rise up, shine God’s light, share your faith in everyday moments, and bring hope to those in need.

Notes

John 16:33

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

  • As a believer, you are simultaneously in Christ and in the world.

  • In the world, the world is experiencing Uncertainty, anxiety, confusion, indecision, distrust

  • In Christ, you will experience peace which is undisturbed composure.

  • Overcome - declared victorious over all difficulty and opposition

John 16:33 AMPC

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

What’s Going On In The World Today?

  • Hurricane Helene

  • FEMA says they don’t have any more money to cover another hurricane

  • Our ally Israel is in a war; 🇺🇸 has sent troops

  • Volatile presidential election

  • Ukraine and Russia

  • Port Strike postponed (USA Today reports could cost the economy $5 billion per day)

  • “Middle-class life has gotten more expensive and wages have not kept up, so it has gotten harder.”

Isaiah 60:1-2

Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

  • This passage serves as both a challenge and a call to action in a world full of confusion, division, and uncertainty.

  • We live in a time filled with the pressures of life, career ambitions, relationships, and personal challenges.

  • Darkness” isn’t just poetic imagery, it represents the brokenness we see every day

  • Darkness often takes the form of pain—emotional, relational, or spiritual.

  • Arise – Get up, wake up, begin, take action, come on the scene.

  • Shine – Give light, sparkle wherever you go; leave a spark

  • You can only shine when you are fulfilling your God-given purpose and responsibilities

  • For your light has come - it’s your season, your time, your moment, your opportunity

  • The glory of the Lord is when the character and nature of God is made visible for people to see

  • Even when darkness seems overwhelming, we are called to shine.

  • We have something to offer—a light that brings hope, healing, and direction to a world desperately in need of it.

Two ways I want to see you shine:

  1. Love your neighbors

  2. Live out your faith boldly.
